Swine acute diarrhoea syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) is a recently identified enteric coronavirus that serves as the primary causative agent of severe clinical diarrhoea and intestinal damage in pigs, leading to substantial economic losses in the swine industry. SADS-CoV has been documented to infect a diverse array of cell lines in vitro, encompassing cells from its natural hosts (such as bats, monkeys, cats, dogs, minks, and hamsters), susceptible hosts (pigs), and potential hosts, including humans and other animals.
