Target Information

The family Sarcocystidae includes cyst-forming coccidia that parasitize a diverse range of vertebrates. Nearly 200 species of Sarcocystis have been identified. Sarcocystosis is the disease caused by the Sarcocystis parasite. Sarcocystis cruzi is capable of encysting in the muscles of both cattle and water buffalo.
