Carp edema virus is a large, double-stranded DNA virus is part of the poxvirus family. Carp edema virus disease (CEVD) is an emerging concern for koi enthusiasts and carp aquaculture both in the United States and globally. This virus can cause disease and lead to high mortality rates in both wild and cultured varieties of common carp (Cyprinus carpio), including koi.
