Mycoplasma canadense, a species causing bovine mastitis, impacts milk quality and quantity by infiltrating numerous inflammatory cells. It is also found in the respiratory and reproductive tracts of cattle. An intramammary infection with M. canadense leads to an immediate and sharp decline in milk yield, a substantial influx of inflammatory cells in the milk from all quarters, and persistent infections over extended periods.
