Target Information

Viral respiratory disease is a significant cause of illness in horses, potentially disrupting training and racing schedules in performance animals. Equine rhinitis virus and equine adenovirus are widespread but generally have less clinical impact as viral respiratory pathogens, often causing subclinical or minor clinical symptoms in immunocompetent horses. There are two reported equine adenoviruses: equine adenovirus 1 (EAdV-1) and equine adenovirus 2 (EAdV-2). EAdV-1 is mainly associated with the upper respiratory tract, while EAdV-2 affects the gastrointestinal tract.
