Target Information

Trichinella spiralis is a viviparous nematode parasite found in rodents, pigs, bears, hyenas, and humans, and it causes the disease trichinosis. Often called the "pork worm," it is commonly associated with consuming undercooked pork. In pigs, clinical signs of T. spiralis infection are rarely observed.
