Target Information

The Sindbis virus (SINV) belongs to the Alphavirus genus within the Togaviridae family. It consists of enveloped particles featuring an icosahedral capsid and possesses a positive single-stranded RNA genome, approximately 11.7 kilobases in length. Transmission of the Sindbis virus occurs through Culex mosquitoes, affecting various bird species, including migratory and game birds, which act as amplifying hosts.
