Fungi of the Scedosporium genus are saprophytic and widespread globally, causing a variety of clinical signs and disease manifestations in both humans and animals. Typically found as soil saprophytes, the Scedosporium genus currently encompasses ten species, with Scedosporium apiospermum being one of the primary pathogenic species.
