Target Information
Malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) is a lymphoproliferative disease caused by a group of closely related viruses of ruminants, classified under the genus Macavirus in the Gammaherpesvirinae subfamily. Caprine herpesvirus 2 (CpHV-2), a gammaherpesvirus endemic to domestic goats, has been found to cause clinical malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) in certain deer species.
