Target Information
Avian influenza viruses, which are a subset of influenza A viruses, exhibit significant diversity among birds, especially within waterfowl and shorebird populations. First discovered in 1956, H11 influenza viruses have been detected in migratory birds, chickens, ducks, geese, penguins, and pigs. As a less common subtype, H11 viruses predominantly circulate among waterfowl and shorebirds, with only a limited number of isolates found in poultry.
