Fusarium species are widely distributed in soil and can be found in both below-ground and above-ground plant parts, plant debris, and natural substrates. Traditionally viewed as crop pathogens, their impact has recently extended into veterinary medicine. Several Fusarium species are now recognized for infecting animals and causing various diseases across a wide range of hosts.
