Target Information

Brucella inopinata is a Gram-negative bacterium characterized by its coccoid shape, lack of motility, and non-spore-forming nature. Unlike other classical Brucella species, which share identical 16S rRNA and recA gene sequences, B. inopinata was the first to exhibit multiple mutations in these genes. This bacterium can replicate inside macrophages, leading to disease and persistent infection in mice.
