Target Information

The Menangle virus was first identified in 1997 following an outbreak of stillbirths and deformities in a piggery located in Menangle near Sydney, NSW, Australia. This virus is characterized by an envelope and negative-sense single-stranded RNA (ssRNA). In swine, it leads to decreased conception rates, smaller litter sizes, and a significant number of stillborn fetuses.
