Mink enteritis virus (MEV) is a variant of Carnivore protoparvovirus 1 that specifically targets minks, leading to enteritis. It replicates within the cells of the crypt epithelium located in the duodenum and jejunum, with some impact on the ileum, colon, and caecum as well. The seriousness of the disease is directly linked to the necrosis of the crypt epithelium.
