Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) is an acute, highly contagious disease affecting goats and sheep. It belongs to the Morbillivirus genus within the Paramyxoviridae family. PPRV is prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Turkey. It causes fever, necrotic stomatitis, gastroenteritis, pneumonia, and can lead to death.
