Target Information
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a viral illness triggered by a feline coronavirus, impacting both wild and domestic cats. Coronaviruses represent a widespread category of viruses frequently infecting the upper respiratory tract (nose and throat) or the gastrointestinal tract (intestines) across various animal species. FIP is most prevalent in young cats under the age of two. There is evidence suggesting that male cats and specific breeds are more commonly affected. FCoV infection leads to the production of specific antibodies, independently of the development of FIP.
