Target Information

Influenza A viruses are classified based on the hemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N) proteins on their surface, with 18 H subtypes and 11 N subtypes identified. Subtype H16 is genetically distant from subtype H13. Viruses with the H13 and H16 subtypes are most commonly found in gulls and are rarely detected in ducks.
