Target Information

Rickettsia typhi is a small, aerobic, obligate intracellular, rod-shaped Gram-negative bacterium. It is the causative agent of murine typhus. Along with R. felis, Rickettsia typhi serves as a zoonotic pathogen primarily maintained in rodent reservoirs, such as rats and mice, and may also be linked to enzootic cycles involving opossums and domestic cats.
