Target Information

Pseudorabies is a viral infection found in swine and is prevalent in many regions worldwide. It is caused by the Suid herpesvirus 1 (SuHV-1). This virus can also affect other mammals including cattle, sheep, goats, cats, dogs, and raccoons, often leading to fatal outcomes in these species. Infected swine spread the virus through their saliva and nasal secretions, typically through respiratory transmission. While there is no specific treatment for acute SuHV-1 infection, vaccination can help reduce clinical symptoms in pigs of certain ages.
