Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC or EAggEC) is a type of Escherichia coli that causes both acute and chronic diarrhea worldwide, affecting populations in both developed and developing regions. While atypical strains of EAEC have been found in calves, piglets, and horses, these animals have not been identified as sources or reservoirs for infection in humans.
