Target Information

Listeriosis predominantly affects feedlot or sheltered ruminants during the winter-spring season. This infectious and potentially fatal disease can impact animals, birds, fish, crustaceans, and humans. It is a significant food-borne zoonotic disease caused by Listeria monocytogenes, an intracellular pathogen with the ability to spread between cells, allowing it to cross barriers such as the blood-brain, intestinal, and placental boundaries.
