Target Information
Canine CYP7B1 is a microsomal enzyme belonging to the cytochrome P450 family, which plays a significant role in the metabolism of steroids and oxysterols. It is involved in the 6α- or 7α-hydroxylation of several steroids and oxysterols, contributing to primary bile salt synthesis, steroid hormone metabolism, and immunoglobulin production. In dogs, CYP7B1 may be particularly important for maintaining the quiescence-activation balance of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which is crucial for their therapeutic potential in conditions like arthritis. Additionally, CYP7B1 has been implicated in neuroinflammation, with CYP7B1 deficiency impairing myeloid cell activation in autoimmune disease of the central nervous system.
