Target Information
Canine hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a multifunctional heterodimeric glycoprotein synthesized and secreted by cells of mesenchymal origin, targeting epithelial and endothelial cells through endocrine and paracrine mechanisms. It activates a tyrosine kinase signaling cascade via the c-MET receptor, inducing cellular responses such as proliferation, motility, morphogenesis, and anti-apoptotic activities. These functions are essential for embryonic development, tissue regeneration, and repair in organs like the liver, kidneys, heart, and neural tissues. In dogs, HGF is particularly important for liver regeneration, as it stimulates hepatocyte proliferation and supports liver function in conditions such as chronic inflammation, cirrhosis, and congenital liver diseases.
