Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 31 (CD31) also known as platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule (PECAM-1) is a cell-cell adhesion and signaling protein with established roles in immune cell transmigration and angiogenesis. CD31 is expressed on platelets and on most leukocytes and is constitutively present on endothelial linings in vivo. Swine CD31 may have a significant role in the response of the xenograft vascular endothelium. CD31 is implicated in a diverse range of responses in inflammation and vascular biology including angiogenesis, leukocyte transmigration, leukocyte motility, thrombosis, vascular permeability, and numerous immune functions.
