Target Information

Canine growth arrest specific 7 (GAS7) is a protein predominantly expressed in neurons and plays a critical role in neuronal differentiation and maturation, particularly in the formation of neurites and growth cones. It is involved in the regulation of actin dynamics and cytoskeletal rearrangement, which are essential for neurite outgrowth. GAS7 interacts with N-WASP, a key regulator of Arp2/3 complex-mediated actin polymerization, contributing to the formation of membrane protrusions and processes. This interaction is required for regular neurite outgrowth of hippocampal neurons. Additionally, GAS7 has been implicated in the control of mitochondrial dynamics within neurons, affecting mitochondrial shape, distribution, and rejuvenation, which are crucial for neuronal homeostasis.
