Target Information
Canine NQO1, or NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1, is a cytosolic 2-electron reductase that plays a vital role in cellular defense against oxidative stress and in redox processes. This enzyme is highly inducible and has the ability to prevent certain quinones from one-electron redox cycling, which can lead to the production of radical species. NQO1 is also involved in the generation of antioxidant forms of ubiquinone and vitamin E, contributing to the plasma membrane redox system. Its expression is often altered in various tumors, and it is associated with conditions like Alzheimer's disease, making it a significant target for therapeutic interventions in canine health.
