Target Information
Chicken ryanodine receptor (RyR) is a calcium release channel located in the sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscles, playing a central role in muscle contraction. It is involved in excitation-contraction coupling, where the depolarization of the T-tubule membrane opens the RyR channel to release calcium, a process known as depolarization-induced Ca2+ release (DICR). The RyR channel can also be directly activated by Ca2+ binding, a phenomenon referred to as Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR).
