Target Information
Feline IgG, or immunoglobulin G in cats, is a critical component of the feline immune system, providing a specific and long-lasting immune response to various antigens. As the primary antibody produced during the secondary immune response, IgG is instrumental in identifying and neutralizing foreign substances such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Cats produce IgG antibodies following exposure to new pathogens, and these antibodies remain in the bloodstream to offer rapid and robust defense upon subsequent encounters with the same antigens. One unique aspect of feline IgG is its role in maternal immunity; queens can transfer IgG to their kittens through colostrum, the first milk produced after giving birth, which is vital for the kittens' initial immune protection.
