Target Information
Chicken ATPase H+ transporting lysosomal V0 subunit D1 (cATP6V0D1) is a component of the vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase), a multi-subunit enzyme complex that acidifies cellular compartments such as lysosomes, endosomes, and secretory vesicles. This acidification is essential for various cellular processes, including protein degradation, receptor recycling, and the function of hydrolytic enzymes. cATP6V0D1 specifically contributes to the V0 domain of V-ATPase, which is responsible for the assembly and stability of the enzyme complex within the membrane. The V-ATPase functions by using the energy derived from ATP hydrolysis to pump protons (H+) across cellular membranes, thereby creating a proton gradient that drives the acidification process.
