Target Information
Porcine natriuretic peptide precursor B (NPPB) is a precursor to B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), primarily produced by the myocardium in response to volume overload and increased filling pressure. It plays a critical role in cardiovascular homeostasis by promoting natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilation, while counteracting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The active BNP hormone is generated through the proteolytic cleavage of its precursor, with BNP and the N-terminal fragment of proBNP (NT-proBNP) serving as powerful biomarkers for heart failure and cardiovascular risk assessment.
