Target Information
Canine TNF tumor necrosis factor (TNF) plays an important role in the dog's immune response by managing the activities of receptors, cytokines, and transcription factors. It initiates death receptors for the extrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway and positively regulates the NF-kappaB transcription factor activity and RNA polymerase II. Its contribution to the immune response supports the tumor necrosis factor-mediated signaling pathway. Physically, it can be found on the cell surface, in extracellular spaces, and within the cell membrane. Certain variations of this gene have been associated with obesity in Labradors, and abnormal levels have been linked to severe outcomes in dogs with leptospirosis.
