Target Information

Porcine adenosine deaminase (pADA) is an enzyme that plays a critical role in the metabolic pathway of purine nucleosides in pigs. It is responsible for the deamination of adenosine and 2'-deoxyadenosine to inosine and 2'-deoxyinosine, respectively, which is an essential step in the catabolism of these nucleosides. pADA is involved in maintaining the balance of purine nucleosides within the cell and has implications in the regulation of immune responses, as adenosine is known to have immunosuppressive effects. The enzyme is also important for the production of adenosine, which is a signaling molecule that acts on adenosine receptors to modulate various physiological processes, including heart rate, blood flow, and neurotransmission.
