Target Information

Porcine complement C5 is a key component of the complement system, an essential part of the innate immune system in pigs. Its activation leads to the cleavage of C5 into two fragments, C5a and C5b. C5a acts as an anaphylatoxin, binding to C5aR and inducing a range of biological responses, while C5b initiates the formation of the membrane attack complex (MAC), capable of killing susceptible pathogens by pore formation in association with C6, C7, C8, and C9.
