Mouse Anti-Chicken Ras-Related Protein Rab-3A (RAB3A) Monoclonal Antibody

Chicken Ras-related protein Rab-3A is a critical small GTPase that plays a pivotal role in the regulation of neurotransmitter release at the synapse. As a member of the Ras superfamily, Rab-3A cycles between an active GTP-bound state and an inactive GDP-bound state, a process regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) and GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs). In chickens, Rab-3A is particularly important for the control of synaptic vesicle fusion and the subsequent release of neurotransmitters. It interacts with synaptotagmin (Syt) proteins, which are Ca2+-binding vesicle membrane proteins that facilitate vesicle fusion and Ca2+-triggered neurotransmitter release. Rab-3A helps to limit the number of vesicles that can be fused with the target plasma membrane, thereby modulating the amount of neurotransmitter released in response to Ca2+ influx.
