Target Information

Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a virus that primarily causes genital herpes, a common sexually transmitted infection. Glycoprotein C (gC) is a critical surface glycoprotein of HSV-2 that contributes to the virus's ability to infect and interact with host cells. gC is a major component of the viral envelope and plays a role in the initial attachment of the virus to host cells, as well as in the fusion of the viral and cellular membranes, facilitating viral entry.
