Target Information

Porcine ATPase H+ transporting lysosomal V0 subunit D1 (pATP6V0D1) is a key component of the vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase) complex in pigs, which is responsible for acidifying lysosomes, endosomes, and certain types of secretory vesicles. This acidification is crucial for the proper functioning of lysosomes, where waste materials and macromolecules are broken down and recycled. pATP6V0D1 contributes to the V0 sector of the V-ATPase, which is integral to the enzyme's assembly and stability within the lysosomal membrane. By hydrolyzing ATP, V-ATPase uses the released energy to pump protons across the membrane, creating the acidic environment necessary for lysosomal enzymes to function optimally.
