Target Information

Porcine BCL2-associated athanogene 3 (pBAG3) is a member of the BCL2 family, which is known for its role in regulating apoptosis, or programmed cell death. pBAG3, in particular, is a cochaperone protein that interacts with heat shock proteins (HSPs), such as HSP70, and plays a crucial role in protein folding, quality control, and the prevention of protein aggregation. This protein is highly conserved across species and is expressed in various tissues, with potential implications for cellular stress response, muscle health, and the aging process. In pigs, pBAG3 may contribute to the resilience of cells under stress conditions, such as those encountered during muscle exertion or in response to disease.
