Target Information

Porcine cytokeratin 5 (pKRT5) is a type II intermediate filament protein that is essential for the structural integrity of epithelial cells in pigs. It is typically found in simple epithelia, such as the epidermis of the skin and the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, where it forms a supportive network in conjunction with type I keratins. pKRT5 plays a critical role in maintaining the mechanical stability of epithelial tissues and is involved in cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. It is particularly important during the process of wound healing and tissue regeneration, providing resilience and support to the epithelial layers.
