Target Information
Porcine L1 cell adhesion molecule (pL1CAM), also known as neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (NCAM1), is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules. pL1CAM plays a crucial role in cell-cell interactions, particularly in the nervous system of pigs, and is involved in processes such as neuronal migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity. This protein is highly expressed in the brain and is particularly important during development for the proper formation of neural networks. pL1CAM mediates homophilic and heterophilic interactions, which are essential for the establishment and maintenance of cell contacts.
