Target Information

Porcine matrix metallopeptidase 2 (pMMP-2), also known as gelatinase A, is a member of the matrix metalloprotease family that plays a significant role in the remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in pigs. This zinc-dependent endopeptidase is particularly involved in the degradation of collagen and other ECM components, which is essential for physiological processes such as tissue repair, growth, and development. However, the activity of pMMP-2 is tightly regulated to prevent excessive degradation that can lead to pathological conditions like chronic inflammation and cancer progression.
