Target Information
Porcine protein phosphatase 1 catalytic subunit alpha isoform (PP1α) is a key enzyme in the porcine cellular machinery, playing a central role in the regulation of protein phosphorylation. PP1α is a component of Protein Phosphatase 1 (PP1), a highly conserved serine/threonine phosphatase that counterbalances the actions of kinases by dephosphorylating target proteins, thus modulating their activity. This isoform, PP1α, is particularly important in various cellular processes, including glycogen metabolism, muscle contraction, and signal transduction. It is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and the brain, where it contributes to the regulation of glycogen synthesis and neuronal function, respectively.
