Target Information

Interleukin-18 (IL-18), also known as interferon-gamma inducing factor (IGIF) is pro-inflammatory cytokine produced mainly by macrophages. Mucosal epithelial cells are among the major sources of IL-18 in swine. IL-18 plays an important role in the T-cell-helper type 1 (Th1) response, primarily by its ability to induce IFNγ production in T cells and natural killer (NK) cells.
