Target Information
Bovine coagulation factor V is a plasma glycoprotein essential for blood coagulation. It acts as a cofactor in the activation of prothrombin to thrombin, playing a crucial role in the intrinsic and common pathways of the coagulation cascade. Factor V is synthesized in the liver and circulates in plasma as an inactive precursor. Upon activation, it forms a complex with Factor Xa, significantly accelerating the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. Deficiencies or mutations in Factor V can lead to bleeding disorders, while its abnormal activation is associated with thrombotic conditions.
