Target Information
Bovine fibrinogen is a key protein involved in the blood clotting process, primarily synthesized by the liver and found in plasma. It is a large glycoprotein composed of three pairs of polypeptide chains (α, β, and γ) that play essential roles in hemostasis and wound healing. When tissue injury occurs, fibrinogen is enzymatically converted by thrombin into fibrin, which forms a stable clot to prevent bleeding. Additionally, fibrinogen levels can be affected by inflammation and liver function, making it an important marker for assessing health conditions in cattle.
