Target Information
Chicken apoptosis regulator BAX (Bcl-2-associated X protein) is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family. It plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis by promoting mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, leading to the release of cytochrome c and activation of caspases. BAX is normally localized in the cytoplasm but translocates to the mitochondria upon apoptotic stimuli. It can form homodimers or heterodimers with anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members, and its expression is regulated by the tumor suppressor protein p53.
