Target Information
Avian influenza, also referred to as avian flu or bird flu, is a disease caused by the influenza A virus. Research indicates that the neuraminidase component of the human influenza A(H7N9) virus may have originated from influenza A(H11N9) viruses that were present in eastern China. However, the scarcity of data on the N9 subtypes of the influenza A virus circulating among wild birds in this region poses a significant challenge in identifying the source of the neuraminidase in the influenza A(H7N9) virus.
