Target Information

Alanine aminotransferase is encoded by the chicken GPT2 gene. It is an enzyme primarily found in the liver and kidney. It is essential for maintaining liver health and function. Research has shown that aspartate aminotransferase activity in serum and liver mitochondria and cytosols of rats, guinea pigs, chickens and cattle was significantly higher than alanine aminotransferase activity. The ALT test is a blood test used to assess liver damage.
