Target Information

Cortisone is a 21-carbon pregnene steroid hormone and a naturally occurring corticosteroid metabolite. It is also utilized as a pharmaceutical prodrug. Through the action of the enzyme corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase isozyme 2, cortisol is transformed into the inactive metabolite cortisone, particularly within the kidneys.
