Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic known for its bactericidal action against Gram-negative aerobic bacilli and certain anaerobic bacilli that have not developed resistance. It typically lacks effectiveness against Gram-positive bacilli and anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli. Neomycin is employed in treating surface skin infections in cats, dogs, and other companion animals.
