Target Information
African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a highly contagious and often fatal virus that affects domestic and wild pigs. It belongs to the Asfarviridae family, and it is the causative agent of African Swine Fever (ASF), a severe hemorrhagic disease in swine. ASFV is primarily transmitted through direct contact between infected and susceptible pigs. It can also be transmitted through ticks and indirectly through contaminated feed, fomites, or swill feeding. ASFV poses a significant threat to the global pig industry and has economic implications due to its impact on pork production.
